ERIKS commitment: prepared for REACh Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals Regulation (EC) no 1907/2006

ERIKS has a lasting commitment to sustainable development. We subscribe to the objectives of the REACh legislation, as it aims to maximize transparency of information and to minimize the use of harmful substances. The goal is to enhance both human health and environment.

REACh entered into force on 1 June 2007. It demands manufacturers and importers of chemical substances to register the substances on the European market for their intended purposes. Risk analysis and technical documented files will be made. The available information will be transparent throughout the supply chain.

The first step of pre-registration started on 1 June 2008 and will end on 1 December 2008. The ECHA1 in Helsinki gathers all preregistration records and a full list will be available from 1 January 2009.

Phase 1, running until 2010, holds the registration of CMR2 substances and substances produced in quantities over 1000 ton per year.

Phase 2 is the registration of substances in the 100-1000 tonnage range and runs until 2013.

Phase 3 deadline is 2018 and holds the registration of substances produced in quantities of 1-100 ton per year. Substances not reaching the 1 ton per year threshold are not required to be registered. New substances to the market have to be registered immediately.

Though ERIKS mostly manages articles, we distinguished our role in the supply chain early. All necessary actions to comply have been taken.

  • Most articles in ERIKS portfolio do not need (pre) registration
  • We are working with production facilities and suppliers to make sure all articles will remain available throughout the entire REACh implementation period
  • Adverse consequences on the supply of any of our articles will be caught by incorporating a valuable alternative in our portfolio
  • Communication on purpose use will be transparent and readily available
  • For all articles produced using substances on the SVHC-Candidate list, the appropriate information will be adopted in the Material Safety Data Sheets, which are readily available on the technical websites.
