RoHS - EU Directive
RoHS Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances (European Directive 2011/65/EU)
RoHS is aimed at reducing and preventing the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The European Directive, which replaces Directive 2002/95/EU, entered into force on 21 July 2011 and is known as RoHS II. Both versions will remain valid until 2 January 2013. All Member States, including the Netherlands, have until 2 January 2013 to transpose RoHS II into national law. The old Directive will remain in force until RoHS II is implemented.
RoHS contains a list of restricted chemical substances that may only be used in electrical and electronic equipment if they are below the given maximum concentration values tolerated by weight in homogeneous materials.
- Lead (0.1%)
- Mercury (0.1%)
- Cadmium (0.01%)
- Hexavalent chromium (0.1%)
- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) (0.1%)
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) (0.1%)
