FPM/FKM Viton®
We believe that fluorcarbon rubber, FKM Viton®, is the most significant elastomer developed in recent history.
What is FPM/FKM Viton®?
The terms Viton® O-rings, FPM and FKM often lead to confusion and incorrect interpretations.
FPM is the ISO designation, FKM is the ASTM designation. Viton®, Dai-El and Technoflon are brands for FPM polymers. All of the designations stand for one single base material, which is fluoro rubber.
This rubber is used in applications that need O-rings that are resistant to high temperatures and chemical attacks. The FPM/FKM Viton® sealing rings are often used aircraft, automobile and other mechanical devices requiring maximum resistance to elevated temperatures and to many fluids, or other media.
Why is FPM/FKM Viton® the most significant elastomer developed?
- FPM/FKM Viton® has a wide temperature range
- FPM/FKM Viton® has excellent aging characteristics
- Low compression set
- Wide range of chemical compatibility
- FPM/FKM Viton® is resistant chemical and ozone attacks
- Temperature range -26°C to +205°/230°C (-15°F to +400°/440°F)
To which media is FPM/FKM Viton® resistant?
FPM/FKM Viton® is highly resistant against:
- Mineral and vegetable oils and greases
- Non-flammable hydraulic fluid
- Organical solvents and chemicals
- Diesel fuels and Petrol
- Acids
- Aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons
- Aliphatic
