What is FPM/FKM Viton®?
The terms Viton® O-rings, FPM and FKM often lead to confusion and incorrect interpretations.
FPM is the ISO designation, FKM is the ASTM designation. Viton®, Dai-El and Technoflon are brands for FPM polymers. All of the designations stand for one single base material, which is fluoro rubber.
This rubber is used in applications that need O-rings that are resistant to high temperatures and chemical attacks. The FPM/FKM Viton® sealing rings are often used aircraft, automobile and other mechanical devices requiring maximum resistance to elevated temperatures and to many fluids, or other media.
