Legislation for food and beverage, drinking water and pharmaceutical industry

Many O-rings and sealing products are used in controlled or challenging environments. Particularly seals and rubber parts which are being used in contact with drinking water, in food and beverage and pharmaceutical applications need to comply with strict requirements.

Compliance to strenuous industry and regulatory standards is mandated by law. Many countries have their own legislation, which is extra demanding for customers which operate at an international level. ERIKS improves its understanding of legislation as it applies to rubber products, through extensive consultation with its customers, supply chain and legal subject specialists.

Food contact compounds

A working group has been established within our Global Materials Development Team (MDT) to develop and further improve the level of expertise applied to ERIKS supply chain for food contact compounds, and to introduce new materials with the capability to meet multiple food contact compliances.

Throughout Europe, the USA and Asia, the global nature of both the sealing industry and the food and beverage industries continues to place increasing demands on the supply chain in terms of food contact compliance. ERIKS is rising to meet this challenge.

Procedures for the ERIKS clean rooms

ERIKS has its own clean rooms to prevent contamination and "outgassing" of components. In the clean rooms, o-rings and other sealing products and plastics can be cleaned according to the right method. The products are made dust-free and optimally packed under stringent procedures and work instructions, for both ERIKS and non-ERIKS products.
