FVMQ: excellent for dry heat resistant O-ring

Fluorosilicone combines the good high- and low-temperature properties of silicone with limited fuel and oil resistance.

Strong polymer for years

Fluorosilicone (FVMQ) was invented around 1950. FVMQ polymers are built of polysiloxane chains where methyl side groups are replaced by trifluoropropyl side groups. Because of this, the FVMQ polymers have almost the same mechanical and physcal properties as silicone rubber. Thanks to the fluorination (23-28% Fluor), O-rings are better resistant against many fluids.

Properties of FVMQ

  • strong (dry) heat resistance (-73°C (-100°F) to 200°C (390°F)
  • very good low temperature flexibility
  • excellent resistance to weather, ozone and UV rays
  • a significantly better chemical resistance than standard silicones (VMQ)
  • generally recommended for static applications
  • higher than normal shrinkage rate

FVMQ o-ring is resistant against:

  • mineral and synthetic oils
  • automotive fuels (gasoline leaded/unleaded, diesel, RME, test fuels)
  • jet fuels and oils
  • ATF (automatic transmission fluid)
  • various other chemicals and many solvents.

Find all suitable chemicals in our Chemical Resistance Guide.

Why choose ERIKS O-rings?

We are an authorized O-ring distributor. With our worldwide network we offer standard O-ring compounds, but also engineer O-ring solutions for problems or for preventing problems.  A high diversity of O-rings and a our huge network of Core Competence Centers, dealers, service centers and other establishments across the USA, differentiate us from other O-ring suppliers
